FORMAT DECISIONS

Choose an image route by what must change

Image conversion is not only a filename-extension change. JPG is broadly compatible and uses lossy compression; PNG is useful when lossless pixels or transparency matter; WebP is a modern web-oriented format; TIFF can contain one image or multiple frames and is common in scan and archive workflows. Choose the destination based on what the next app, website, print workflow, or document actually accepts.

Use Image Converter when you want one general workspace and may compare several supported destination formats. Use a direct route such as PNG to JPG, JPG to PNG, WebP to PNG, or TIFF to JPG when the destination format is already decided. The focused pages expose the format-specific behavior directly instead of asking you to make the same choice again. TIFF routes are kept separate because multi-frame input and multi-page output need different handling from ordinary single-image files.

Conversion cannot recreate detail that is missing from the source, and moving from a transparent format to JPG requires flattening transparency. Check the result before deleting the original, especially for logos, screenshots, line art, scanned pages, and images with small text. If the real goal is smaller bytes rather than another format, use an image compressor; if the goal is different pixel dimensions, use a resizer instead.
