Watermark PDF
Add advanced text or image watermarks with live preview, dynamic fields, repeat patterns, page targeting, and layer control.
PRACTICAL WORKFLOW NOTES
Place the Watermark With the Final Page in Mind
Watermark PDF adds visible ownership, confidentiality, status, branding, or trace information to one PDF or a batch. Use styled text or a logo, preview the first page, then control size, opacity, rotation, placement, page selection, and repeat patterns. Dynamic fields such as {filename}, {page}, {pages}, and {date} can change automatically for each file and page. Apply a single mark, a diagonal repeat, or a grid pattern, and place the watermark over or below existing page content.
Add a single document or a batch. Each source PDF keeps its own separate output file. Choose text or a PNG, JPG, or WebP logo. Start from a preset or create a custom design. Adjust proportional size, opacity, arbitrary rotation, position, safe margins, repetition, and over/under content layering.
The useful controls in Watermark PDF are meant to solve different file situations. Insert {filename}, {page}, {pages}, or {date} so one design can identify every output file and page automatically. Use one precise watermark or repeat the mark with loose, balanced, or dense spacing across the page. Use the nine-point position grid for speed or enter exact horizontal and vertical percentages.
The current Watermark PDF workflow is designed to modify supported PDFs in the browser and create new output files without overwriting the originals. If the next task changes, Add Page Numbers is the better follow-up when you need to add custom page numbering after the watermark design is finalized.
How to Use Watermark PDF
Follow the workflow below and review the result before downloading.
Upload one or more PDFs
Add a single document or a batch. Each source PDF keeps its own separate output file.
Build the watermark
Choose text or a PNG, JPG, or WebP logo. Start from a preset or create a custom design.
Control appearance and placement
Adjust proportional size, opacity, arbitrary rotation, position, safe margins, repetition, and over/under content layering.
Choose the target pages
Apply to all, odd, even, portrait, landscape, or custom page ranges without splitting the document.
Create the watermarked PDFs
Generate new output files while leaving the selected source PDFs unchanged.
More Control Than a Basic PDF Stamp
The watermark studio combines ordinary stamping controls with batch, dynamic, positioning, and repeat options for professional document workflows.
Dynamic trace fields
Insert {filename}, {page}, {pages}, or {date} so one design can identify every output file and page automatically.
Single, diagonal, or mosaic
Use one precise watermark or repeat the mark with loose, balanced, or dense spacing across the page.
Precise X/Y placement
Use the nine-point position grid for speed or enter exact horizontal and vertical percentages.
Target page orientation
Watermark portrait or landscape pages only, in addition to all, odd, even, and custom page selections.
Over or below page content
Choose whether the watermark should sit above document content or be inserted below the existing page drawing stream.
Batch PDF watermarking
Apply the same professional design to multiple PDFs and receive a separate result for every source document.

PRIVACY & RESPONSIBLE USE
Watermark PDFs in Your Browser
The current Watermark PDF workflow is designed to modify supported PDFs in the browser and create new output files without overwriting the originals.
See File Security & Processing and the Privacy Policy for broader site-level details.
Source PDFs stay unchanged
Watermarking produces a new file for each source PDF rather than modifying the selected local file.
No password bypass
The tool does not bypass document passwords, encryption, DRM, or access restrictions.
Visual marking is not access control
A watermark can communicate ownership or confidentiality, but it does not itself prevent copying, printing, or redistribution.
Copyright: Processing or converting a file does not grant permission to reproduce third-party material or bypass passwords, encryption, DRM, or document restrictions. See Copyright & Intellectual Property.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add a logo or image watermark to a PDF?
Yes. Choose Image / logo and use a PNG, JPG, or WebP file. Transparent PNG works especially well for logos.
Can I watermark several PDF files at once?
Yes. Add multiple PDFs and apply one design across the batch. Each source document produces its own output PDF.
Can the watermark show the page number automatically?
Yes. Use {page}. You can also insert {pages}, {filename}, and {date} in a text watermark.
Can I repeat a watermark across the whole page?
Yes. Choose Diagonal repeat or Grid / mosaic and select the repeat density.
Can I watermark only some pages?
Yes. Apply the watermark to all pages, odd pages, even pages, portrait pages, landscape pages, or custom page numbers and ranges.
Can I place the watermark behind PDF content?
Yes. Choose Below content. PDFs with unusual or restricted structures can still require the normal Over content mode.
Does a watermark stop someone from copying the PDF?
No. A visible watermark communicates status, branding, ownership, or trace information. It is not a substitute for encryption or access control.
